easiest way to have protection against Identity theft?
Public Comments
- Cant. Information is easily availabe for anyone who wants it.
- Shred everything, don't use your credit card on the internet, don't give out your identity on the internet, don't use your credit card in places you don't trust.
- there isn't any ONE way...
- Don't use anything electronic, pay everything with cash!
- never give out your SSN, credit card number, debit card number or any personal information over the internet or phone! If someone calls you and needs it they should already know it.
- If you don't have an identity, they can't steal it. Tough question!
- You should sign up (possibly through your bank because I know we do it at SunTrust) to get a checking account that comes with ID theft protection and where you can get free copies of your credit report as often as you like. Also, always protect your SSN card, never carry it in your wallet. And never use a public computer to pay bills or put your credit card number in to. That is suicide right there.
- I use a shredder for documents that I no longer need that has id info on them. Using checks can be a security risk. Anyone whom you write a check to has your check account information and can potentially use that information for id theft. Checks are even riskier than credit cards.
