Has anyone ever used a credit monitoring or credit alert service?
I am thinking about signing up for a credit alert service through one of the 3 credit agencies. They all offer som many different options but I would like to no how well they work.

- no,sorry!
- been considering this and today i read on smartmoney.com that there are 20 states that allow you to stop credit inquiries that are done without your permission thereby making it virtually impossible for someone to open an account in your name without you knowing.
- Save your money friend. While the service is a good idea, the best solution for credit monitoring and credit alert services will be for you to limit access to your credit history, to shred all documents bearing your personal information, to exercise your right to privacy by providing your social security number ONLY to governmental agencies. Whereas many believe that you must give landlords, banks, and/or other public entities (TARGET, car dealers, etc.) a social security number in order to conduct any business with them, YOU DO NOT. You have a right to financial privacy and you CANNOT be compelled to disclose that information. If a landlord, who has a federally insured mortgage, (FANNIE MAE, HUD, ETC.) refuses to do business with you solely because you refuse to provide landlord with a SSN, know that landlord just broke the law. Get back to me if you need any further information or assistance. I'll do what I can to assist you. Note: If you reside in California you can freeze your credit report
- No
- myfico.com....try it free for 30 days and if you dont like it cancel. transunion and experian does the same thing but i heard that their scores are fake!
- tried it 2 things posted in 4 days and i was not alerted. also the make it sound like you can pull unlimited reports and scores for the membership price you cant scor updates every 30 days and report only when something newn posts. you can monitor your own report for cheaper.
- dont think they work
- No never needed to!!
- Don't bother signing up for anything when you can check for yourself when you feel the need. Join myfico.com- you can view your credit scores from all three reporting agencies whenever you like. It's about $14 per bureau but you can view your report for up to one month. The site is secure and provides scenario advice and access to report if there is a mistake with your info. I am an account executive banker and I highly recommend this website for credit needs.
