Child Tax Credits identity theft!?
I have just found out that someone has accessed my child tax credit award via telephone changing my bank account to another and changing my claim from lone parent to working and asking for child care. I went to tax office in woolwich, se18, only to find them say this has happened to lots of people in the area, there were a number of people who had the same thing happening to them, some had, had extra children added to there claim and others that they were working. Has this happened to anyone else? I am totally outraged that this has been allowed to happen, I never chuck any letters away with my national insurance, etc. I have contacted itv newsdesk and am wondering what else to do? as we should have pin numbers etc when asked for our present information and circumstances to be changed by the flippin phone!

You were absolutely right to go to go to ITV, I would also contact the press and contact my local MP Look forward to seeing you on the TV.... remember to wave! - I received someone else award and details in the post. Wrong name but my address. I phoned to tell them that it was wrong but they said they couldnt change the address the right full receipients had to change it but just to put it back in the post. But I had Mr and Mrs Thomas full names and NI numbers good thing I am honest is all I can say.
