ID Theft, What if someone used your social Secuty number, and used some other name and bank opened the account for them .

  1. I would have some words with that bank about the fraudulent account and tell them to get my SSN off that account immediately. I would also need to file a police report regarding the incident in the event that anyone tried to come after me for any fraudulent transactions. I would also pull my credit bureau reports to see if any other accounts have been opened fraudulently. I would also place a 'Fraud Victim Alert' on my report with the three major bureaus in case some one tries to open any more accounts.
  2. Put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus for you at no cost. Social Security also has a total free # for fraud. That total free # is 1-800-269-0271.
