ID Theft, What if someone used your social Secuty number, and used some other name and bank opened the account for them .

- I would have some words with that bank about the fraudulent account and tell them to get my SSN off that account immediately. I would also need to file a police report regarding the incident in the event that anyone tried to come after me for any fraudulent transactions. I would also pull my credit bureau reports to see if any other accounts have been opened fraudulently. I would also place a 'Fraud Victim Alert' on my report with the three major bureaus in case some one tries to open any more accounts.
- Put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus for you at no cost. Social Security also has a total free # for fraud. That total free # is 1-800-269-0271.
