- Hi Jonny, This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team. The Identity Safe feature of Norton 360 is controlled by a browser Add-ons in IE 7 and Firefox. The first thing to do would be to manually run LiveUpdate to make sure you have the latest program and definition updates applied . Next you want to make sure this feature is enabled in Norton 360 2. 1.Open Norton 360 2 and click on the "Settings" link at the top of the window. 2. Make sure there is a check in the box on the left side of the window next to Identity Safe. Then click the "Close" button. To check that the Add-ons are loaded in IE 7, go to Tools>Manage Add-ons>Enabled or Disable Add-ons, and make sure that "Symantec Intrusion Prevention" and "Norton Confidential" are enabled. The "Show Norton Toolbar" Add-on should also be enabled. If the Identity Safe feature is still showing as being disabled, you could have a conflict with other Browser Helper Objects. You should leave Sun Java and Adobe enabled, as well as all of the Symantec/Norton Add-ons, but if there are more that are being loaded, you can test by disabling them one by one and then closing and re-launching the browser. Another choice would be for you to use Firefox as your browser to test the Identity Safe feature. If you still have the same problem in Firefox, then that would indicate a problem with your installation of Norton 360. The proper method to use to uninstall and reinstall Norton 360 is as follows: 1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&docid=2001074957656166&nsf=sunset-c2002kb.nsf&view=0 2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well. 3. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly, and then reinstall Norton 360. 4. When the installation is complete, launch Norton 360 2, and click on the "PC Security" bubble and choose "Check for Updates." 5. When the updates have been installed, go back into "Settings" and make sure the Identity Safe feature is enabled. 6. Lastly, perform a "Comprehensive Scan" with Norton 360 to check for infections.
