Anyone use LifeLock Identity Protection ?

I was wondering with the news about children having their social security numbers stolen if I can set it up for my 12 year old son? Thanks anyway. They said an adult has to join and then they will monitor the childs social security for an additional small fee.

Public Comments

  1. 12 years old is to young
  2. Don't waste your money. They don't monitor anything, they're just an insurance company that's so hard to collect on that they're under 6 class action lawsuits. You can contact the credit reporting companies and find out if your kid has a credit report (which can only happen in the case of fraud). If they don't, don't worry. If they do, have the file purged and then freeze it with the state-mandated right to freeze your credit reports. By the way, you'd save a lot of money if you freeze your credit instead of paying a monthly fee to some dubious corporation.
  3. Kids are a favorite target of id thieves because they can use their information for years -without being detected. As parents we strive to keep our kids safe at all times. They depend on us to protect them from all sorts of predators. But with the explosion of Internet and cell phone communications—including social networking sites, music and video sharing technology and the ever-popular “texting”—keeping our kids out of the reach of predators has become increasingly difficult. LifeLock is the only company that I know of that specifically monitors a child's identity.
